Settle (4)
Settle area (4)

From the path back into Settle, this is a view across the neighbouring village of Giggleswick, with the hills of the Forest of Bowland in the distance.

Giggleswick is noted for its school, founded in 1499. The dome of the school chapel, built in 1897, can be seen above the trees. The chapel was designed by Sir Thomas Graham Jackson, one of the most eminent architects of the time.

Just by the nearer trees and bushes the photo also includes a glimpse of the famous Settle-Carlisle railway line.
