Pauline
at Gibraltar Point
The end of September 2011 was unusually warm, with a number
of records being broken, and we took the opportunity of a
trip to Gibraltar Point. This is an important staging post for
migrating birds, managed as a nature reserve by the Lincolnshire
Wildlife Trust.
What we hadn't realised was that earlier that morning there had been
one of the highest tides of the year, so when we got there most of the
paths across the reserve were flooded, and we had to paddle.
This picture was taken when we got to the sea (and paddled again). The
other birds on the reserve wouldn't let me get close enough to take
their photo, but this one didn't seem to mind.
