Black Hill (1)
Black Hill sits on the boundary between West Yorkshire and Derbyshire. At 582m (1909 feet) it's the highest point in West Yorkshire, though Derbyshire's Kinder Scout is higher (633m; 2087 feet). The summit is mostly peat bog, but relatively easy to navigate as the path (part of the Pennine Way long distance footpath) is paved with stone slabs, which also helps to protect the peat.
The trig point at the summit sits on a small mound known as Soldier's Lump, now reinforced with stones; it's the pillar that was leaning, not the photographer.
