The exterior of the house was used as Pemberley in the 1995 BBC adaptation of Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice, starring Colin Firth and Jennifer Ehle.

One of the best known scenes was also filmed on the estate, but away from the main house. This is where Colin Firth, as Mr Darcy, dives into a small lake on his arrival at Pemberley after a long journey, only to be greeted as he emerges by Elizabeth Bennet (Jennifer Ehle). Perhaps not surprisingly, that lake is now known as Darcy's Pond.
